Formed in 1974, Blondie first hit the singles market 45 years ago in June with "X Offender" - which didn't chart anywhere. In October 1976, at least the Australians were already excited and bought the second single, "In The Flesh" up to number two. In 1977, although the singles sent into the race failed, the second Blondie LP, PLASTIC LETTERS, left its first traces: NL #2, UK #10, USA #72. At that time, Blondie still belonged to the New York punk scene and occupied their very own niche with their quirky, sometimes somewhat edgy 60s Pop. In Great Britain, where everything was already turning in the direction of New Wave and Post-Punk, Blondie achieved the greatest popularity in 1978, along with Holland: four of their five released singles made it into the Top 20. The third album (September 1978) became a box office hit: UK #1, USA #6, D #9). And finally, the Disco single "Heart Of Glass" catapulted the Americans to the Olympus of superstars in January 1979. After that, almost all of the band's releases were self-runner until their first breakup in 1982. The media interested mainly on Debbie Harry: it was about her age, her sexual charisma, her look or her beauty.
