John Rossall, der Gründer der Glitterband und erst im vergangenen Jahr mit einer überragenden neuen LP am Start, hat den Kampf gegen den Krebs verloren: Er verstarb bereits am 2. Oktober im Alter von 75 Jahren. Rossall war nicht nur in der Anfangszeit der Führer der Glitterband, er betätigte sich auch als musikalischer Leiter der Gary-Glitter-Live-Shows und war maßgeblich an der Entwicklung des besonderen Sounds der Glitter-Familie beteiligt. John Rossall war immer wieder mal in verschiedenen Besetzungen als Glitterband unterwegs und veröffentlichte Solo-Material. 2020 erschien mit LAST GLAM IN TOWN eine seiner besten Platten.
John Rossall, the founder of the Glitterband and just last year launched with an outstanding new LP, has lost the fight against cancer: he died already on October 2 at the age of 75. Rossall was not only the leader of the Glitterband in the early days, he also acted as musical director of the Gary Glitter live shows and was instrumental in developing the special sound of the Glitter family. John Rossall was on the road in different lineups as Glitterband and released solo material. 2020 saw the release of LAST GLAM IN TOWN, one of his best records.
