Volman, for whom his nickname "Flo" became naturalized over the years, was the musical engine of the Californian group, along with Howard Kaylan. Despite all side projects or musical side jumps - both always formed the basic framework of the Turtles and are inseparable to this day. In the early seventies, for example, they were briefly part of Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention, and from 1971 they started a career as a comedy Pop/Rock duo as Flo & Eddie.
