Er war 1977 Gründungsmitglied der US-amerikanischen Band Toto, die mit ihrer Mischung aus Hard Rock, Jazz Fusion und Pop eine besondere Rolle einnahm und Riesenerfolge feierte. Bobby Kimball prägte den Sound Totos mit seiner klaren, markanten Stimme maßgeblich. Hits wie "Hold The Line", "Rosanna" (im Duett mit Steve Lukather) und "Africa" (im Refrain) wären ohne ihn nur halb so intensiv. 1984 wurde er wegen zunehmender Unzuverlässigkeit entlassen, kehrte aber für kurze Gastspiele immer mal wieder zu Toto zurück, um 1998 für zehn Jahre erneut einzusteigen. Außerhalb von Toto war Bobby Kimball ein gefragter Sänger. Er gehörte unter anderem Far Corporation an, sang bei Yoso, hatte ein Projekt mit Survivor-Sänger Jimi Jamison und zahlreiche Gastauftritte. Außerdem veröffentlichte er ein paar Solo-Alben. Seit einiger Zeit ist es sehr still um Bobby Kimball geworden, da er an Demenz erkrankt sein soll. Am 29. März wird er 75 Jahre alt.

In 1984 he was dismissed due to increasing unreliability, but returned to Toto every now and then for brief guest appearances, rejoining in 1998 for ten years. Outside of Toto, Bobby Kimball was a singer in demand. He belonged to Far Corporation, among others, sang with Yoso, had a project with Survivor singer Jimi Jamison and numerous guest appearances. He also released a couple of solo albums. For some time, it has become very quiet around Bobby Kimball, as he is said to be suffering from dementia. On March 29 he will be 75 years old.
