Bevor er 1968 zum Gründungsmitglied der Country-Rock-Pioniere Poco wurde, war Jim Messina bei Buffalo Springfield eingestiegen und hatte am letzte Album mitgewirkt. Bei Poco blieb er zwei Jahre und machte sich 1970 mit Kenneth Clark "Kenny" Loggins als Loggins & Messina selbstständig, um fortan mit soften Pop/Rock-Songs in den US-Charts Spuren zu hinterlassen. Mittlerweile werden circa 16 Millionen verkaufte Tonträger für das Duo gezählt. Ihr letztes gemeinsames Konzert gaben die Zwei 1976. Danach startete Jim Messina seine Solo-Karriere, machte Folk, Latin und Fusion Jazz, nahm von 1988 bis 1991 an einer Poco-Reunion teil und musiziert bis heute. Im kommenden Jahr will Messina, der am 5. Dezember 75 Jahre alt wird, wieder auf Tour gehen.
Before becoming a founding member of Country-Rock pioneers Poco in 1968, Jim Messina had joined Buffalo Springfield and contributed to its last album. He stayed with Poco for two years and went into business for himself in 1970 with Kenneth Clark "Kenny" Loggins as Loggins & Messina, from then on leaving their mark on the U.S. charts with soft Pop/Rock songs. In the meantime, the duo has sold about 16 million records. The two gave their last concert together in 1976, after which Jim Messina began his solo career, making Folk, Latin and Fusion Jazz, participating in a Poco reunion from 1988 to 1991 and still making music today. Next year Messina, who turns 75 on December 5, plans to go on tour again.
