GITARRENLEGENDE HANK MARVIN WURDE 80
- Nov 02, 2021
1973 kehrte er zu den Shadows zurück, blieb bis 1990. Auch später war er von Zeit zu Zeit für ein paar Jahre Bestandteil der Gruppe.
Hank Marvin, longtime member of the Shadows, turns 80 on October 28. He joined the Drifters in 1958, which became the Shadows a short time later, accompanying Cliff Richard. Marvin played lead guitar, keyboards and contributed vocal parts. In 1968, the Shadows disbanded for the first time, which Marvin used to produce his first solo LP. In 1969 he was present at the reunion of the Shadows, only to leave the band a year later. In the seventies, his solo career took off strongly. Revered in artist circles, Hank Marvin was in demand as a guitarist or composer. Among people who benefited from his playing or songwriting talent were Roger Daltrey, Jean-Michel Jarre, Olivia Newton-John, Brian May of Queen or Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. In addition to the latter two, numerous other guitarists from Great Britain refer to Hank Marvin as their direct influence: among others, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, George Harrison or Jeff Beck.
