Der Gitarrist und Komponist Roman Bunka ist am 12. Juni mit 70 Jahren verstorben. Er war eines der Langzeitmitglieder der Krautrock-Formation Embryo und spielte mit der Gruppe in den Siebzigern und Achtzigern zahlreiche Platten ein. Gefragt war er immer wieder als Oud-Spieler. Das arabische Instrument studierte er in Kairo. Orientalische Musik begleitete Bunka sein ganzes Leben. Das ist vor allem auf seinen Solowerken zu hören. Ansonsten dominierte in seinem Schaffen Jazz Rock. So spielte er bei Missus Beastly, mit Mal Waldron, Charlie Mariano oder bei Aera.
