DER WUNDERSAME COWBOY IST TOT: LEE CLAYTON MIT 80 VERSTORBEN
Jens-Uwe BerndtTeilen
His music never sounded like his record covers looked. While Lee Clayton always appeared a bit futuristic on the front pictures, musically he remained very earthy. Attached to Country Rock, Clayton composed bittersweet melodies and told stories full of irony and cynicism. His career began in the early seventies as a songwriter for others before releasing his LP debut in 1973. Three more records appeared by 1981 (BORDER AFFAIR, 1978; NAKED CHILD, 1979; THE DREAM GOES ON, 1981 - all seen here) before he became a book writer, returning to releasing studio albums in the nineties.
Lee Clayton died on june the 12th.
