Seit der Gründung von Big Country 1981 gehörte Bruce Watson, der in Kanada geboren wurde und in Schottland aufwuchs, der Band an. Er wird am 11. März 60 Jahre alt. Da sich die Musiker die Credits an den Songs teilten, ist er bei fast allen Stücken als Mitautor genannt. Watson lieferte das solide Rhythmusgitarren-Grundgerüst für die Songs, die von Zeit zu Zeit mal mehr in Richtung Hard Rock gingen, mal stärker am Folk Rock orientiert waren oder New-Wave-Einflüsse präsentierten. Nach dem Selbstmord von Band-Boss Stuart Adamson 2001 schien das Kapitel Big Country beendet, bis es 2007 zu einer Kurzzeitreunion kam. Seit 2011 gibt es die Band unter Watsons Regie wieder, der zwar das einzige Gründungsmitglied ist, mit Mark Brzezicki am Schlagzeug allerdings einen Weggefährten an seiner Seite hat, der schon seit 1982 dabei ist. Seit 2007 (inaktiv von 2010-16) gehört Watson zu den reformierten Skids, einer Punk-Band, der einst Stuart Adamson vorstand.
Since the foundation of Big Country in 1981, Bruce Watson, who was born in Canada and grew up in Scotland, was part of the band. Since the musicians shared credits on the songs, he is credited as a co-writer on almost all of them. Watson provided the solid rhythm guitar base for the songs, which from time to time sometimes leaned more toward Hard Rock, sometimes were more Folk Rock oriented, or presented New Wave influences. After the suicide of band boss Stuart Adamson in 2001, the chapter of Big Country seemed to be over, until there was a short-term reunion in 2007. Since 2011, the band has been back under Watson's direction, who is the only founding member, but has a companion at his side in Mark Brzezicki on drums, who has been with the band since 1982. Since 2007 (2010-16 break), Watson has been part of the reformed Skids, a Punk band once fronted by Stuart Adamson.
