Conleth Cluskey, der am 18. November 80 Jahre alt wird, gründete mit seinem Bruder Declan 1957 in Irland die Harmonichords, die 1960 zu den Bachelors wurden und bis 1966 zahlreiche Hits landen konnten. In ihrer Heimat brachten sie in dieser Zeit mindestens acht Singles in den Top 10 unter. In Großbritannien schafften sie mit “Diane“ 1964 eine Nummer eins (USA #10). Con Cluskey spielte bei den Bachelors bis 1984, bevor er sich gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder im Streit von Mitgründungsmitglied John Stokes trennte und als The New Bachelors weitermachte. Bis vor kurzem waren noch verschiedene Versionen der Bands unterwegs.
