BACCARA-ORIGINAL MARIA MENDIOLA MIT 69 VERSTORBEN
- Sep 21, 2021
She was the most dressed in white of the duo Baccara in the seventies - Maria Mendiola. On Saturday, September 11, she passed away at the age of 69. Between 1977 and 1979, Baccara landed several hits throughout Europe and, along with Pink Lady from Japan, was considered the most successful female Pop duo. Discovered in Spain while performing in discos at vacation resorts, the duo first came to Germany, where they sang songs of Rolf Soja and Frank Dostal (Rattles, Wonderland) in the Disco style (“Yes Sir, I Can Boogie“, “Sorry, I’m A Lady“). With the beginning of the eighties, the two singers moved to Great Britain, where they sought to add a subtle Rock note to their music with new songwriters. In 1981, Mendiola separated from her partner. Both appeared with their own versions of Baccara until today.
