BABYS, BAD ENGLISH, STYX: BASSIST RICKY PHILLIPS WIRD (TURNS) 70
Teilen
Even though he has belonged to Styx for almost 20 years now as bassist (joined in 2003), he became a household name to the Hard'n'Heavy Rock audience through his membership in other well-known formations: Ricky Phillips. Not so much happened with Nasty Habit yet. However, his entry into The Babys in 1979 gave him the opportunity to showcase his skills on the strong albums UNION JACKS and ON THE EDGE (both 1981). Together with fellow Babys member John Waite, Journey folks Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, and Wild Dogs drummer Deen Castronovo, he formed the Glam Metal band Bad English in 1987. The ambitious project lasted for two albums before falling apart again in 1991. Before Phillips finally landed with Styx, he worked for Coverdale/Page, Ted Nugent and Montrose, among others.
Ricky Phillips will be 70 years old on October 7.
