AUS DER WERKSTATT AUF DIE BÜHNE: HOLLIES-BASSIST BERNIE CALVERT WIRD 80
Teilen
Bernard Bamford Calvert spielte Anfang der Sechziger Piano bei Rickie Shaw and the Dolphins.
Bernard Bamford Calvert played piano with Rickie Shaw and the Dolphins in the early sixties. There he was already involved with Bobby Elliot (dr) and Tony Hicks (g). Hicks, who recommended that he switch to four-string, brought him to the Hollies a little later. At first he merely replaced regular bassist Eric Haydock on a Scandinavian tour and recorded the hit single "Bus Stop," but then became a permanent Hollies member in 1966. Calvert stayed until 1981, his departure being attributed to musical differences with producer Bruce Welch.
On September 16, Bernie Calvert will be 80 years old.
