Als Keyboarder von Agitation Free (1971 bis 1974) spielte Michael Hoenig die Alben MALESCH (1972) und 2ND (1973) mit ein, bevor er eine Zusammenarbeit mit Klaus Schulze versuchte und für eine Australien-Tournee bei Tangerine Dream Rainer Baumann vertrat. Hoenig veröffentlichte ein paar elektronische Solo-Alben, ist seit den Achtzigern aber vor allem als Filmkomponist in den USA tätig. Zu seinen bekanntesten Soundtracks gehören die von „The Blob“ (1988) und „Dark Skies“ (2006). 2007 bestritt Hoenig mit Agitation Free eine Japan-Tournee, wo er neben Band-Kollege Lutz Ulbrich und Guru-Guru-Kopf Mani Neumeier eine Nachbildung im Wachsfigurenkabinett von Tokyo erhielt. Seit 2012 gehört er wieder zu Agitation Free, die in unregelmäßigen Abständen live auftreten. Michael Hoenig ist am 4. Januar 70 Jahre alt geworden.
