ZWISCHEN POP UND HARD ROCK: PAT BENATAR WIRD 70
Jens-Uwe BerndtTeilen
Faszinierende Erscheinung, facettenreiche Stimme, starke Songs: Pat Benatar sorgte bereits 1979 mit ihrem Debüt-Album IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT für Aufsehen.
Fascinating appearance, multi-faceted voice, strong songs: Pat Benatar already caused a sensation in 1979 with her debut album IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT. She became a star in North America right from the start, placing the album at #12 in the U.S. and #3 in Canada. Even though Pat Benatar was loved for her Rock songs performed with a scratchy voice, she landed her biggest hits with Pop in 1983/84: "Love Is A Battlefield" (USA #5, D #3) and "We Belong" (USA #5, D #9). After the wild eighties, Benatar briefly turned to the Blues before returning more strongly to the Rock music. The singer is still active today and can be seen live in her home country from time to time. At her side from the beginning: husband, songwriter and guitarist Neil Giraldo. Pat Benatar turns 70 on January 10.
