Als sie 1961 mit “You Don‘t Know“ die Spitze der britischen Single-Charts erklomm, war sie erst 14 Jahre alt: Helen Shapiro. Den Rekord der jüngsten Charts-Spitzenreiterin konnte ihr bis heute keiner nehmen. Und am 28. September wurde sie 75. Die einzigartige Sängerin konnte sich in den 60s noch einige Male ziemlich gut in den Hitlisten platzieren, bevor sie zu einer anspruchsvollen Albumkünstlerin wurde, die bis in die 2000er immer wieder mit Studioproduktionen überzeugte. Später sang sie in Musicals, machte Jazz und ist seit 2015 in dem Trio Hebron unterwegs, um christliche Musik unter die Menschen zu bringen.
