Vor 45 Jahren begann der Rummel um Frank Farians Erfindung namens Boney M. 1975 gegründet, kam “Daddy Cool“ im Mai 1976 in die Läden. Aber erst nachdem die Band im September ein paar TV-Auftritte absolvierte, gingen Single und Debüt-Album, TAKE THE HEAT OFF ME, durch die Decke. Boney M. Wurden mit 150 Millionen verkaufter Tonträger zu einer der erfolgreichsten Gruppen aus Deutschland. Neben einiger unbestritten hervorragender Disco-Songs tat sie das Quartett mit Cover-Versionen großer Hits aus den 60s und 70s hervor, die mal mehr, mal weniger gelungen interpretiert wurden. Hier eine Auswahl: “Sunny“ Bobby Hebb, “No Woman No Cry“ Bob Marley, “Have You Ever Seen The Rain“ CCR, “Still I‘m Sad“ Yardbirds, “Painter Man“ The Creation, “Heart Of Gold“ Neil Young, “Hold On, I‘m Coming“ Sam & Dave, “Two Of Us“ The Beatles ... Schließlich gibt es da noch den Song “Future World“, der praktisch eine Cover-Version von Omegas “Tízezer lépés“ ist, was allerdings nicht vermerkt wurde.
