Zu seinen Großtaten mit Cher gehören von ihm geschriebene, arrangierte und produzierte Single-Hits wie "I Got You Babe" und "Baby Don't Go" (beide 1965), "Little Man" (1966), "The Beat Goes On" (1967), "All I Ever Need Is You" (1971). Zu den Hits, die er für Cher schrieb gehörten "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" (1966) und "You Better Sit Down Kids" (1967). Nach seiner Musikerkarriere ging Sonny Bono in die Politik. Er wurde 62 Jahre alt.
