PAT BENATAR: DIE KLEINE FRAU MIT DER RIESENSTIMME
Teilen
New Wave (IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, 1979).
Come on, you can't tell that the 1.52-meter singer Pat Benatar is 68 years old (her birthday was in January). She looks so much younger. And above all, you can't hear it, because she hasn't lost her ability to sing the highest notes. Pat Benatar, who came from Jazz Rock and Soul, became one of the most popular female Rock voices in the USA in the eighties. Although initially produced by the Australian hit purveyor of the 70s, Mike Chapman, she started with a modern style mix of Hard Rock, Pop and New Wave (IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, 1979). She perfected this sound on subsequent albums (CRIMES OF PASSION, 1980; PRECIOUS TIME, 1981; GET NERVOUS, 1982) and placed several singles in the U.S. top 20. LIVE FROM EARTH (1983) marked a cut and included their first worldwide hit, "Love Is A Battlefield," which saw Benatar lean tightly toward Pop. "We Belong" (1984) followed the same direction. The following albums were more Pop with Rock elements (TROPICO, 1984; SEVEN THE HARD WAY, 1985), before the singer became harder again with WIDE AWAKE IN DREAMLAND (1988). She finally went back to her roots in 1991 with TRUE LOVE, presenting Blues, Soul and Jazz.
