Keyboardist and songwriter Richard Barbieri turns 65 on November 30. The musician belonged to the New Wave band Japan since 1975, which is considered one of the pioneers of Synth Pop. He remained in the group until its breakup in 1982 and was also part of the short-lived reunion in 1989/90. Barbieri released numerous albums in collaboration with other artists, belonged to the Dolphin Brothers, Indigo Falls and Rain Tree Crow. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Progressive Rock band Porcupine Tree, of which he is still a member.
