Blue Cheer was formed 55 years ago and actually lasted until 2009 - 43 years of existence. The official breakup came after bassist and vocalist Dickie Peterson passed away in October 2009. Blue Cheer are considered the pioneers of Heavy Metal, having released VINCEBUS ERUPTUM in 1968, an album whose heaviness was unprecedented at the time. The mercilessly overdriven fuzz guitar threatened to tear apart the loudspeakers at home at that time. Even though Blue Cheer only left their mark on the charts with their debut and the single "Summertime Blues", they released a series of albums that were more than just worth listening to.
