Howe tot sei überraschend gekommen, eine Ursache wurde vorerst nicht bekanntgegeben.
Die amerikanische Heavy-Metal-Band trat 1983 erstmals unter dem Namen Metal Church auf und veröffentlichte zwei Alben, bevor Mike Howe 1988 dazu kam. Mit ihm entstanden einflussreiche Alben wie BLESSING IN DISGUISE (1989), THE HUMAN FACTOR (1991) und HANGING IN THE BALANCE (1983). Metal Church gelten als Vertreter des Thrash und US Power Metal.
Nach einer Auflösung der Band schloss sich Howe der Gruppe 2015 wieder an, was Metal Church zurück zu alten Stärken brachte.
