Karl Bartos, der am 31. Mai 70 Jahre alt wird, kam nach dem bahnbrechenden AUTOBAHN-Album 1975 zu Kraftwerk, war für das elektronische Schlagzeug zuständig und spielte mit der Band einige ihrer wichtigsten und erfolgreichsten Alben ein. Darunter DIE MENSCH-MASCHINE (1978, D#12, UK#9, USA #130) und COMPUTERWELT (1981, D#5, UK#15, USA#72). 1991 trennte er sich von Kraftwerk und betrieb mit Ex-Rheingold-Musiker Lothar Manteuffel das Projekt Elektric Music. Seit 1998 veröffentlicht er Eigenes. Anfangs unter Electric Music, danach unter seinem Namen. Karl Bartos arbeitet darüber hinaus als Produzent und Remixer und betätigte sich als Songwriter.
