1971 wurde Bert Ruiter Bassist der 1969 gegründeten holländischen Band Focus, die mit dem Instrumentalsong “Hocus Pocus“ in ihrer Heimat gerade den zweiten Single-Hit gelandet hatte. Ruiter blieb bis 1978 bei der Progressive-Rock-Formation, um sich Earth & Fire anzuschließen, mit denen er 1979 den Hit “Weekend“ einspielte (#1 unter anderem in Deutschland, Belgien, Holland und der Schweiz). Bei Earth & Fire blieb Ruiter bis zur endgültigen Auflösung der Band 1991. Der Musiker war darüber hinaus als Songwriter und Produzent tätig. Am 26. November wird Bert Ruiter 75 Jahre alt.
In 1971, Bert Ruiter became bassist for the Dutch band Focus, formed in 1969, which had just scored its second single hit in its homeland with the instrumental song "Hocus Pocus." Ruiter remained with the Progressive Rock formation until 1978, when he joined Earth & Fire, with whom he recorded the 1979 hit "Weekend" (#1 in Germany, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland, among other countries).
