Ruiter blieb bis 1978 bei der Progressive-Rock-Formation, um sich Earth & Fire anzuschließen, mit denen er 1979 den Hit “Weekend“ einspielte (#1 unter anderem in Deutschland, Belgien, Holland und der Schweiz). Bei Earth & Fire blieb Ruiter bis zur endgültigen Auflösung der Band 1991. Der Musiker war darüber hinaus als Songwriter und Produzent tätig. Am 26. November wird Bert Ruiter 75 Jahre alt.
