Curt Smith war Gründungsmitglied von Tears For Fears, die zu Beginn der Achtziger mit traurig schönen Melodien in den Charts auftauchten und mit “Shout“ 1984 sogar in Deutschland eine Nummer eins hatten. Mit THE SEEDS OF LOVE (1989) wandten sich Tears For Fears psychedelischem Pop zu und zitierten dabei fleißig und intelligent die Beatles. 1991 verließ er die Band, startete eine Solo-Karriere und kehrte 2000 in den Schoß seiner Stammformation zurück. Smith steuerte für einige der größten Tears-For-Fears-Hits die Leadvocals bei: zum Beispiel “Mad World“ und “Pale Shelter“. Der Sänger, Produzent und Komponist wird am 24. Juni 60 Jahre alt.
