Burke Shelley - Gründer, Bassist und Sänger der walisischen Hard-Rock/Heavy-Metal-Band Budgie - ist am 10. Januar im Krankenhaus gestorben. Shelley gründete die Gruppe 1967 und gehörte ihr in jeder Phase ihrer Existenz an. Die Gruppe trennte sich erstmals 1987. Es folgten zwei Wiedervereinigungen: 1995/96 und 1999 bis 2010. Budgie gehören zur ersten Heavy-Metal-Welle aus Großbritannien und gelten als großer Einfluss auf zahlreiche Gruppen der New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, die in den frühen Achtzigern dominierten. Das letzte Studioalbum von Budgie erschien 2006.
