The Brecker Brothers sind zwar weder Hard Rock noch Heavy Metal, haben mit HEAVY METAL BE-BOP (1978) aber einen extrem kultigen Plattennamen gewählt. Auch ist das Front-Cover ein echter Hit. Zu hören gibt es vor allem pulsierenden Instrumental-Jazz, der im Gegensatz zu anderen Alben dieser Art ziemlich fett produziert ist. Und die Band hinter den beiden Breckers (Trompete und Tenor-Saxophone) macht richtig Dampf.
