BLUE-ÖYSTER-CULT-GITARRIST BUCK DHARMA WIRD 75
- Nov 17, 2022
Guitarist and founding member of American Rock band Blue Öyster Cult, Buck Dharma (Donald Roeser) turns 75 on November 12. With drummer Albert Bouchard, Roeser formed the group Soft White Underbelly in 1967, which became Oaxaca in 1969 and the Stalk-Forrester Group shortly thereafter, eventually changing its name to Blue Öyster Cult in 1971. In the early seventies, BÖC were positioned as the American Heavy Metal counterpart to the British Black Sabbath. Buck Dharma's guitar playing became formative for Blue Öyster Cult, with some of the most important compositions coming from him. So did Blue Öyster Cult's biggest commercial success, "Don't Fear The Reaper" (USA #12, UK #16). In 1982 Roeser released his only solo album FLAT OUT. He remains a member of Blue Öster Cult to this day.
