80 GEBURTSTAG: MARTHA REEVES HATTE IHRE ZEIT IN DEN 60s
- Jul 23, 2021
Martha Reeves, who turns 80 on July 18, had her most popular period as a singer in the sixties. In that decade, Martha and the Vandellas were omnipresent on TV shows. The group had their biggest hit with "Dancing In The Streets" in 1964 (#2). Other top ten placements came with "Heat Wave" (#4), "Quicksand" (#8, both 1963), "Nowhere To Run" (#8, 1965) and "I'm Ready For Love" (#9, 1966). In the late sixties, Martha Reeves developed drug problems, which accelerated the disintegration of the band, which broke up in 1972. A solo career never really got off the ground, not even after Martha Reeves got her addiction problems under control in the second half of the seventies. Most successful single: "Power Of Love" (1974, #76).
