Martha Reeves, die am 18. Juli 80 Jahre alt wird, hatte ihre populärste Phase als Sängerin in den Sechzigern. In jenem Jahrzehnt waren Martha and the Vandellas in TV-Shows omnipräsent. Ende der Sechziger bekam Martha Reeves Drogenprobleme, was den Zerfall der Band beschleunigte, die sich 1972 auflöste.
